It's Friday, Oct. 22nd, 2010 -- but just because it's Friday doesn't mean it won't be newsy.

  • Two weeks is up, so Gov. Chris Christie is due to speak with federal Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood about where things stand regarding the Access to the Region's Core (ARC) train tunnel project canceled by Christie Oct. 7th, then given a fortnight's reprieve while officials analyzed the cost projections again.
  • UPDATE: U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg holds a news conference at Newark Penn Station regarding the ARC tunnel.
  • Christie is back on the campaign trail this afternoon and evening -- but this time for fellow Republicans here in New Jersey. He stops by 3rd District congressional candidate John Runyan's campaign headquarters in Mount Laurel at 3 p.m., then accompanies Runyan to the Marlton Diner on Route 70 at 4 p.m. Then Christie attends fundraisers at J.G. Cook's Riverview Inn in Pennsville for the Salem County GOP and at Scotland Run Golf Club in Williamstown for the Gloucester County GOP.
  • Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno attends the annual luncheon of the Commerce & Industry Association of New Jersey at the Hilton in Woodcliff Lake.
  • The New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities host an event at Forsgate Country Club in Monroe to explore ways for local governments in New Jersey to adopt best practices and operate more efficiently. Speakers include Community Affairs Commissioner Lori Grifa, four former state treasurers (Brian Clymer, John McCormac, James DiEleuterio and Sam Crane), Toms River Mayor Thomas Kelaher and two officials from the Christie administration -- Cabinet secretary Louis Goetting and Thomas Neff, director of the Division of Local Government Services.
  • In the 14th District state Senate race, Democratic Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein is endorsed by the New Jersey State Firemen’s Benevolent Association, New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association and the Probation Association of New Jersey at the Rusling Hose Fire Company in Hamilton Township.
  • Commission on Capital Budgeting & Planning meets in the Statehouse Annex.
  • Tomorrow, Virginia's attorney general, Ken Cuccinelli, is the keynote speaker at an Americans for Prosperity rally at the Deutscher Club in Clark.
